Donald Trump’s Huge Plans for Bitcoin

Donald Trump made history today speaking at the Bitcoin conference. He made some very bullish statements about Bitcoin and Crypto. Here are the highlights:

“If crypto is going to define the future I want it to be mined, minted, and made in the USA.“

“Crypto is going to the moon. I want America to be the nation that leads the way.”

“The Bitcoin industry is what the steel industry was decades ago.”

“On day one I will fire Gary Gensler and appoint a new SEC Chair"

“The USA will be crypto capital of the planet and bitcoin will be mined, minted, and made in US”

“Bitcoin is the 9th most valuable asset in the world. One day it will overtake gold.”

“Upon taking office I will appoint a Bitcoin and Crypto presidential advisor”

“Bitcoin is not threatening the dollar, the current U.S. government is threatening the dollar. Threat to the dollar doesn’t come from crypto, it comes from Washington DC.”

Other Major takeaways from the today’s sessions:

After Donald Trump spoke Senator Cynthia Lummis took the stage and announced her Bitcoin Reserve Bill which would allow the US to hold BTC as a reserve asset. It allows the US to hold the current BTC it has in storage and continue to add to it.
$13.2 billion Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnik said his firm owns “a shit load of Bitcoin”. The firm also announced today plans to launch a Bitcoin financing business to provide leverage to investors who hold Bitcoin. The firm will launch with $2 billion in initial financing and will continue to substantially grow the operation. - source
Democrat Congressmen Ro Khanna and Wiley Nickel made appearances at the conference showing support for crypto. Congressman Nickel said he penned a letter to the DNC with 14 Democratic members of Congress including Ro Khanna advocating for a new approach to crypto policy. The letter asked for 4 things:
- Add pro-crypto language to the party platform
- Choose a Vice President who is pro-crypto and knowledgeable about digital assets
- Select a pro-innovation SEC Chair
- Engage in a meaningful way with industry
The Financial Times is reporting today that Kamala Harris campaign seeks ‘reset’ with crypto companies. - source
